Cookies & Similar Technologies Policy

Purpose and Scope
This policy explains how Africlink Money Transfer uses cookies and similar technologies on our website (and any mobile interfaces we provide). It applies to anyone who visits our site, creates an account, or uses our services online. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal data more generally.
What Cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device to remember information about you. They help the site function, keep you signed in, measure how the site is used, and tailor content. Similar technologies—like SDKs in apps, pixels, and local storage—work in a comparable way. In this policy, we call all of these “cookies”.
How we use Cookies
We use cookies to do four main things. First, operate the site securely: for example, to recognise your session after login, route traffic reliably, and protect against fraud or misuse. Second, remember the choices you have made, such as language or cookie preferences, so you don’t have to set them each time. Third, understand use of our site: aggregate analytics help us see which pages are helpful and where people encounter errors, so we can improve performance and accessibility. Fourth, show relevant content: where you consent, we may use marketing or attribution cookies to measure campaigns and present content that is more useful to you. We do not sell your personal data.
Categories We Set
We group our cookies into these categories:
- Strictly Necessary required for security and core features (e.g., sign-in, load balancing, fraud prevention). These run by default and cannot be switched off in our systems.
- Functionally improve your experience (e.g., remembering language or last used corridor), but are not essential to run the site.
- Analytics/performance help us understand overall usage and fix problems (e.g., page response times, error rates). Data is aggregated and not used to identify you.
- Marketing/attribution only if you consent; used to measure advertising effectiveness and, where applicable, to show content that aligns with your interests.
Your Choices and Consent
When you first visit our website, a banner lets you accept all cookies or manage your choices. You can change your mind at any time by revisiting the banner (look for “Cookie settings” in the site footer) or by adjusting your browser settings to block or delete cookies. If you block strictly necessary cookies, parts of the site may not work—for example, you may be unable to log in or complete a transfer. Non-essential cookies/SDKs are used in line with UK GDPR and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and will only run after your consent. For our mobile app, you can also manage app permissions and advertising IDs in your device settings (e.g., reset your device’s advertising identifier or limit ad tracking.
Managing Cookies in your Browser
Most browsers allow you to refuse, remove or disable cookies. Controls are usually found under “Privacy” or “Security” in the settings. You can also set your browser to notify you when a cookie is set. Please note that the settings you choose are device and browser-specific; if you use multiple devices or browsers, you will need to set preferences on each.
Third-Party Cookies
Some cookies are set by our service providers—for example, security and anti-fraud tools, analytics platforms, content delivery networks, and (where you consent) marketing measurement partners. These providers act on our instructions and are required to protect your information. We do not permit third parties to use our site to collect data for their own unrelated purposes.
Cookie Duration
Cookies last for different periods. Session cookies expire when you close your browser. Persistent cookies remain for a defined period and then delete themselves automatically. We aim to keep persistence reasonable: functional cookies typically last up to 12 months, consent- preference cookies up to 6–12 months, and analytics or marketing cookies for the periods set by the provider and visible in your browser’s cookie list.
Do Not Track and Similar Signals
Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” (DNT) setting. There is no common standard for DNT signals, so our site does not currently respond to them. You can control cookies directly using the methods described above.
Changes to this Policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes in law, technology, or how we operate. The version and effective date appear at the top. If the changes are material, we will take reasonable steps to bring them to your attention.
